Dear Trade Partner,

We have some important information about Etihad Airways flights to Colombo.

Sri Lankan nationals no longer require approval to fly to Sri Lanka. On arrival, they will need to quarantine, but can reduce their quarantine period by showing proof of their COVID-19 vaccination.

Steps for guests travelling to Sri Lanka as a tourist

  1. Visit srilanka.travel/helloagain to book and reserve a Safe & Secure Level 1 hotel.
  2. COVID-19 insurance with cover for up to US $50,000 is mandatory and will be included in the cost of the hotel reservation.
  3. Guests must pre-pay for one COVID-19 PCR test if staying up to seven days, or pre-pay for two PCR tests if staying up to eight days or more (USD 40 each). This will also be included in the cost of the hotel reservation.
  4. Apply for a tourist visa at eta.gov.lk.
  5. The hotel will issue a reference number which must be included in the visa form. Under Address in Sri Lanka, add the hotel name, address and the reference number provided by the hotel.
  6. Complete a health declaration form.

COVID-19 PCR testing is mandatory

For peace of mind and protection, all guests must have a COVID-19 PCR test a maximum of 96 hours before their flight departure time to Colombo. The test can be taken at any accredited medical facility and the result must be issued in English.

Children are not exempt from COVID-19 PCR testing.

All guests must print their test results – this will be required for validation at check-in.

Arriving in Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan nationals must quarantine on arrival as per government guidelines.

Tourists staying in hotel quarantine must have one COVID-19 PCR test on arrival in Sri Lanka, and an additional PCR test if they are staying for eight days or more. Tests will be pre-paid as part of the hotel booking. The first test will be carried on arrival to the hotel.

Tourists will be free to move about their hotel and will be put into a bio-bubble to allow visits to multiple sites in Sri Lanka. If a guest has received all recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine more than two weeks before travel and can produce the original copy of a vaccination certificate in English, they will be able to take a PCR test on Day seven and then be cleared to move freely outside of the bio-bubble.
